Ink workshop
Dates: Sat, June 14, 2025 and Sat, June 21, 2025
Time: 11:30 am - 2:30 pm
Location: Hyde Park Art Centre
Step into a quiet, experimental space to explore the potential of ink through simple, intuitive mark making. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a curious beginner, this session invites you to experiment with unexpected tools to create bold, intuitive works on paper.
This workshop offers a quiet space to slow down and connect with the simple act of making. Participants will experiment with tools like ink brushes, rollers, and found objects, considering what each one uniquely offers in terms of texture, expression, and voice. We’ll explore the rhythm of lines, textures, and gestures — noticing how each stroke reflects movement, breath, attention, and meaning.
We’ll begin with the idea — developing the concept behind the artwork before deciding how best to bring it to life. Through guided discussion, we’ll explore how the choice of medium shapes meaning, and how materials can serve and amplify a message.
The session will include a look at a selected work from the artist’s archives as a point of reference. From there, each participant will develop their own concept, working within the shared limitation of ink as the primary medium.
Over two sessions (6 hours total), students will create a complete piece, ready for presentation.
No experience is needed. All materials will be provided. Come as you are.
